Diagnose And Advise

The problem you can name is rarely the whole problem.

Diagnose & Advise is for consequential situations - where something's off, the stakes are real, and you need to know what's actually happening before you spend money acting on a guess.

Most consulting is a solution looking for a problem. The methodology is chosen before the first meeting, and the "diagnosis" is a formality that steers you toward the deliverable already in the briefcase. You pay for the appearance of analysis and receive a repackaged template.

I work the other way around.

Problem-led. We start with your situation, not my method. Before I recommend anything, I determine what's genuinely happening - including the parts no one is looking at, and the parts everyone can see but no one will say.

Method defined after. Only once the real problem is clear do I choose the lens to examine it. I don't lead with a framework because I'm not selling a framework. Twenty-plus years across twenty-four industries means the right tool depends on what the problem turns out to be - not on what I happen to have on the shelf.

Delivery flexible. What you receive is shaped by what I find - a written read, a working session, a recommendation you can hand straight to your own team to act on. The form follows the findings, not a price sheet.

What DOESN’T vary: You walk away with a clear picture of what's actually going on, what's being missed, and what to do about it - stated plainly enough to act on with me, with your own people, or with no one but yourself. The recommendation is Yours. Whether I execute it is a separate decision, and often the right answer is that your team runs it internally.

To put it in ‘gym terms’ your doctor could get behind: Do you want to work out YOUR muscles or mine? Only one of those gives YOU long-term benefits.

Every read is measured against one standard: For the good of all, and to the detriment of none. If a recommendation only works by moving the harm somewhere you can't see it, that isn't a solution - and I'll tell you.

Call when the decision matters, the cost of being wrong is high, and the usual analysis keeps circling. Not for problems you already understand and just need hands to execute - for the ones where you're not yet sure you're solving the right thing.
